1972 Triumph Stag, needs engine work. Engine is currently removed from car disassembled. Car last passed New York Inspection in 2003. I bought this car because my T3 only seated 2 and my daughter always wanted to come along. Unfortunately, it after running it for a couple of years, it started to need more work than I had time for.
Unlike the usual problems with the Stag V8, this one was caused by water getting into the engine while it sat. The rings rusted, and damaged the cylinder walls. I had removed the engine to investigate why the oil light came on. That turned out to be some gasket material that plugged up the oil light switch housing.
Car body is in reasonable shape, with minor rust spots at many points, but no rust through. Had entire new front end welded on about 6 years ago. Holes in the back are welded up, but mostly smoothed by filler. Interior of car is pretty good, but covered with mold from sitting covered for 4 years. Has CD player in dash, 5 Minitor wheels, good tires spare, brake master cylinder has been sleeved (corrects common wear problems). Ac is not assembled, but have new rotary compressor to replace original York.
Along with the car go:
New stainless exhaust system
Hard top ( along with most parts, not assembled)
Spare auto box
Spare set of heads
Spare set of camshafts
2 extra crankshafts
all the ribs of a second convertible top frame
second intake manifold
second bonnet (hood)
Lots of other odds ends.
If you're looking for a Stag to work with , this one can be running for the cost of the engine rebuild. and worked up bit by bit to a nice car. If you're looking for parts, the cost of this car could be less than the cost of the parts.
This car will need to be towed away, and I can't help arrange shipping as I'm not around that much. If you bid on this car, you had best be prepared to move it, as I will not let any parts leave unless the car goes with them.
