This is probably one of the best if not THE best looking and running Porsche 944 on ebay at the moment. It has been garage kept before and after it was given a fresh coat of paint in the early nineties, this is info from the previous owner, I've owned the car about two years. This car also has a Turbo body, but the 2.5L 944 engine with under 100000 miles on it, 91826 to be exact. It also has the rare FUCHS 7J x 16 alloy wheels on it wrapped in Raptor tires with less than 200 miles on them. These wheels in new condition are around $2000 dollars each I'm not sure if they're even manufactured anymore, so I could probably sell them off at half price and fetch around what the reserve has been set at, after all they aren't in bad condition a good rubbing compound would really make the aluminum shine. However, I'd never tear apart a car like this or put different rims on it because none could look as good on the 944. The car is a 9/10 on the inside and outside with only minor flaws, as follows
Interior: A fuse blows when the instrument cluster light is engaged causing the instrument panel light to not function, I never got around to having this fixed because it wasn't a significant problem to me. The plastic ring that firmly holds the base of the shifter boot down has broken, once again this wasn't a significant problem to me. The dash has a few hairline cracks forming off of the small defrost vents and there is one fairly small crack that extends from the defrost vents to the vent in the middle of the dash, I've searched for another dash but they're hard to come by without cracks in them and I didn't like the idea of a dashcap. The plastic piece that holds up the passenger side visor needs replacing. The drivers side power window control needs a new, 'screw mount' I suppose would be the word as the thing the screws went into is no longer holding them. However, both window controls work fine and the one on the drivers side stays put fairly well though, the panel isn't hanging off with wires exposed it's just loose. Also, the interior light needs to be re-glued to the ceiling/headliner, when the headliner was put in the glue wasn't allowed to dry in the appropriate temperature causing it to not set well. It works fine though.
Exterior: Minor rock chips in a few places on the front bumper and below the doors all no more than a few mm in diameter, typical of nearly any car.
I have upgraded the car and had some work done to it while I've owned it this includes.
New valves put in recently, new clutch less than 250 miles ago, new Kenwood Cd/MP3 player that is satellite radio ready and 4 new speakers. I still have the original Blapunkt stereo I think, not the speakers though as two were busted and the others were very dry and on the verge of blowing, I had the rear hatch resealed to prevent it from leaking, and a new A/C compressor and hose. I also had a new black leather headliner put in to replace the old one.
The car is impeccable on the inside aside from the few aforementioned details the carpet and seats are very clean and have no tears, when I first saw it I was astounded and I've kept it looking virtually new with regular cleaning and shampooing. In fact I even have the original roadside kit for it in it's original case. Mechanically the car is also sound, with regular oil and air filter changes. The 2.5L engine gets 37mpg highway and has never knocked or given me any problems, it absolutely makes this baby run like a top and the tight suspension and near 50/50 weight distribution on this car makes the handling amazing. In 1984 Car and Driver called the Porsche 944 the best handling production car in America, and I'd bet money it's still the best as it hangs in curves like no other car I've driven and the way it sticks in turns makes it all the more fun to drive as you're being craddled in the bucket seats. This has been babied by myself and the two previous owners, but as of late I haven't been driving it as much and I need to sell it because I'm going back to school and that's proving to be quite expensive. If there was any way I could keep it I would, but unfortunately I haven't found a way so my loss is your gain. You'll have fun in it I can guarantee that.
The buyer must make all arrangements pertaining to transporting and paying for transporting this car. I'll accept buyers from all 50 states, but prefer them from the lower 48...However, if you can get it shipped to you and can afford it be my guest.
If you have any questions message me or e-mail me and I'll even give you my phone number if you'd prefer to talk on the phone.
If you want to buy the car, that's great there are only a few minor problems with it, which I've mentioned, but please don't waste my time and yours if you aren't going to pay or think you may back out.
