Vehicle Description 1977 Porsche 924 Model XB. We purchased this in April from the ORIGINAL owner. Comes with a great story about how and why he bought the car on a whim while walking down a California street, and has owned it since! Great guy. All paperwork including owners manuals, etc... Very well cared for since 1977 when it left the corner of the showroom floor....Literally. Manual transmission, 4 cylinder, AC, huge factory sunroof with original cover (lays neatly in rear), like new tires, nice paint, engine compartment clean, runs good, sounds good. 137,000 miles. GREAT car to make a pretty extreme gas saver with a bit of power. I drove it 35 miles home and it is pretty quick. That's what we wanted, but our daughter won't drive the stick. It does need a little help to make it a real daily driver though in my opinion. I'm no mechanic. TONS of reciepts for almost every kind of maintenance and repair. He loved this car, and we really hate selling it. Needs (as far as I can tell): runs rough when first starting. Clears up after a minute or two and runs great, but? It has an electrical issue that many Porsche owners know all too well I've been told. Some part near the turn signal switch melted a wire? I was told it's not too bad, but we don't want the manual trans. now. It has been fixed electrically before. That's all I know. The headlights work but tail lights don't. I noticed while letting it run that the radiator fan doesn't kick on either (it's electric). It started to warm up after running it for 5 minutes today. (we haven't started it for 2 months.) When we drove it home it was 50 some degrees and didn't overheat or anything. The front seats are torn in many places. The back ones are nice though (all leather). The rear hatch works, but pops open on its own when you hit a big bump. I don't know why. The paint is really nice and presentable, but has a few spots I pictured. Not perfect. Door jams and stuff are really nice. Has a stereo and speakers but they are laying in the back? All in all, it is a very original 924 with a world of potential if you want to spend a weekend or two with it and know cars a little bit. GREAT gas mileage on these at over 32 mpg!!! Remember why we bought it. Bottom line, he drove this all over the country until he parked it in his garage a couple of years ago. I see no reason why you couldn't drive it home to almost anywhere. (With the fan operational). I have a wonderful neighbor who would help wire the fan to the battery with a toggle switch (he says) if you want to drive it home that way. With the summer heat I wouldn't take too many chances. I would probably trailer it though myself, since the hatch popped up on me like 3 times. At least we know it has GREAT struts on the hatch!! Good luck!! If you have less than 10 for feedback, we may cancel your bid. Please email us for contact information at least. When you win this auction you own the car. Auctions are pretty simple stuff. On Jul-06-08 at 04:47:43 PDT, seller added the following information: We've had lots and lots of the same questions. The reserve is 1800. The other questions have been driving it home. I think it would overheat as it sits. It needs the fan working in the summer heat, AND it hasn't seen any more than our drive with it home in April. We live on gravel and it will be dusty too. We've moved it out of the garage and it will go away. (my wifes words) Sorry. I would feel better seeing this trailered and you being a mechanic! There is no gaurantee that you'll make it on a trip home. Hope this answers some questions! Thanks for your time!
