This 1980 MGB with electric overdrive is a June-build just a few months before production ended. I have owned the car since new and have a complete history on the vehicle; from the day I picked it up from the British Leyland rep in London, driving through Europe, ferrying to Norway and back, across the US twice, on Oahu, Hawaii, and for the last 16 years in Southern California. The car has been my daily driver (4 miles a day) until this year when I got an XK8. All running gear maintenance has been performed by British Masters Racing in Vista, CA. The engine starts fast with the auto choke and runs smooth and powerful with no oil burn. Transmission and clutch are in excellent, smooth shifting condition. All very minor accidents were professionally repaired at EuroPacific Auto Specialists in Vista. There, they cut of the inevitable rusted quarter panels and welded new Moss Motors provided metal in place, rebuilt the battery box and repainted and undercoated the entire roadster in 2003. That’s when I replaced the Rostyle wheels with four aluminum LEs from British Masters, spare is Rostyle. A complete leather interior kit was installed in 2004. The roll bar was installed in 1981, when I got back to the US from Europe. The current top was new in 1995, but has rarely been up as the car has been garaged and driven top down (it never rains … enough … in Southern California) until this year. Now, I keep it covered until sold. The 85,800+ miles belies the fact that the odometer-speedometer has not functioned since 1991, so I drive off the tachometer, which operates precisely. The in-dash clock does not work, but the Panasonic CD-AM-FM radio clock is fine. All locks operate properly, Spare keys included as well as assorted “parts.” It has a current California registration and passed California Smog this year (April). I am offering the car locally and reserve the right to sell the car and end this listing if the price is right. You can drive it away from my house. If you choose to ship, the buyer is responsible for payment of shipping. I can recommend a company I have used for long distance vehicle shipment. Due to the age of the vehicle, I offer no warranty and am selling it as-is. Take a look at the pictures. Ask me any question about this car. After 28 years together, I know her pretty well. I have a video I can send to you of the car starting and running. Send an inspector to look this beauty over. I’ll be glad to show off the car!
