Up for Sale is a 1976 BMW 2002. I purchased it last Feb from a guy who had been unable to get it to run in the ten years he was the owner. Here is what I did; Replaced the engine with a known strong runner, 156000 miles on the block although it was rebuilt once during that time, installed gauge to reflect actual mileage. The Trans has 96000 as I understand it. I replace the entire starting and charging system and front wiring harness. I replaced the front struts, brakes, rotors, bearings and rear shoes. I replaced the Carb with a Weber 32/36 with manual choke for optimal control on those cold days. I also replaced the heater and core with a rebuilt unit. The fuel pump, tank and rubber lines were all replaced. All cancerous rust in the flooring was cut and patched and all surface rust had been treated with POR 15 before carpet was installed. The tires have 90% tread left on them and the car comes with a full set of mounted snow tires with at least one good season left in them. Also included is a new can of black POR 15, a new bottle of Herculiner I had planned to do the trunk in, new kyb rear shocks thought the rear shocks do not at all need to replaced at this time, some fog lights and a few other little bits and bobs. It is now a strong runner that gets a conservative 25 MPG on the highway and is capable of a little drifting, even as an automatic. It does need to be painted as the previous owner was prepping to do so. Though I am not sure why as it was not running. Also the windshield is cracked though not spidered and does not obscure the drivers view. All electrical systems are a go aside for the rear defrost and dash cigarette lighter. It has a Kenwood stereo and speakers. The dash has the usual cracks and the headliner though there are no major tears, could use some tending to. It does not have a title either. The guy I bought it from did not have one and I never got around to making it my daily although I have "test driven it" both long distance (300 mi round trips) and around the neighborhoods quite a few times. EDIT: The replacement title is being processed now. It takes 6-8 weeks before arrival at which time it will be signed over and mailed to the new owner. I replaced the ruined center console with a manual trans one, so there is some memorization needed in the shifting sequence. P-R-N-3-2-1 or a normal automatic sequence. There is NO major body damage or cancerous rust in any of the body panels. It just needs a little cosmetic love and this is geared to be a beautiful little classic. The ONLY reason I am selling it is that we are moving cross country and can only take one car with us. My wife and her 04 Subaru won out in the end. But as you can see I put a lot of work into making it a sound little runner. I am also an ASE certified technician, so I will do a write up of all repairs preformed for the buyer to keep as records. Note-My starting bid price is also the lowest amount I am willing to accept, substantially lower than the worth of the car, so please don't ask me to lower it. A good "parts car" or viable rolling shell can go for near as much, not to mention a solid 2002 with as much potential is getting rarer each year. I also know how much work went into it and what I would get paid to do what I've done on a third parties car. The math is simple and I am taking as much a personal loss as a financial on this as is. So please, no low ballers...please.
