Vehicle Description
The Alfa Romeo legacy: The story of Alfa Romeo began in Milan, in 1910 when the first models were built by a new Italian car maker: Societa Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, or A.L.F.A. In 1915, the Italian engineer and industrialist, Nicola Romeo, acquired the company. In 1920, the Alfa badge was changed to read Alfa Romeo. Thus, the automotive marque of Alfa Romeo was born. Alfas have been racing since 1911.
The Alfa was originally purchased in Santa Monica, CA. At 84,590 actual miles, this is one well-preserved Spider convertible that is a blast to drive! The original ivory paint is in excellent condition. It has a few minor pressure dings (no paint damage) that are barely noticeable. The only rust is some minor bubbling on the driver rocker panel (pictured) and the rear bumper on the bottom under the rubber that is cracked. The top and tonneau cover for the top is excellent. The saddle tan interior is excellent with normal carpet wear. There are no cracks on the dash. There is no ashtray under the sliding cover. The shift boot has some tears and I have a new one. The engine idles a little rough, but I can't find anything wrong, (maybe because I'm at 5,500 feet altitude) but off idle and acceleration are excellent. The engine sounds great (no noises). The exhaust system is in good condition & has a new catalytic converter. The 5 speed transmission shifts fine (has the typical second gear synchro clash). The rear axle is quiet. The steering is tight and the brake pads are like new. The tires have good tread. All the electrical works. Comes complete with books and records, jack, and original tool kit. The Alfa is not currently registered but is on a non-op status with DMV. It has not been smogged (has all equipment) and that will be your responsibility. The Alfa has been inspected and serviced and is ready to go. The low NADA price is $9,870 and the high is $15,855. This is the one you want and will be proud to own, so bid with confidence! Please come and see the Alfa in person. Boeckel Motor Works (951-659-2239) is located near Palm Springs. I can help with arranging shipping if need be.
