Vehicle Description
You are bidding on a 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio. 4-cylinder 2-liter electronic fuel-injected all-alloy DOHC engine with variable valve timing, manual 5 speed transmission, original gray leather seats and red carpet in good condition. Car was repainted the original Alfa silver color about 5 years ago. 5-year old Dunlop P195/R15 Touring tires in good condition with 80%+ tread remaining, mounted on factory alloy 'telephone dial' wheels. Recently replaced: distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and spark plug wires, cold start air valve, cowling drain hoses, Bilstein shocks, cross-drilled and slotted F&R rotors, SS flexible brake lines, F&R Kevlar brake pads, water pump, starter, alternator, fuel pumps and fuel rail, coolant and coolant hoses, fuel tank filler boot, engine mounts, mufflers, rear trailing arm bushings and wheel bearings, oxygen sensor, K&N air filter, Interstate battery. Comes with original Owner's Manual, IAP maintenance & repair manual, and parts receipts. All electrical components are complete and fully functional, including the map light and the outside rear view mirror switch. The car does not come with a hardtop.
This car is in very good condition, and performed flawlessly last fall during a 1000-mile trip down the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway to Abingdon, VA. It passed the last Maryland emissions inspection, and the certificate is included in the receipts for the work done over the last 5 years. This car is garaged in Annapolis, MD, and does not go out when there's salt on the roads. The black convertible top boot cover shown in the photo is included.
This car needs a new convertible top (the factory top has a patched tear in the rear window). The driver's side front floor pan has a small rust hole from a leaking cowl drain hose and should be replaced (replacement sheet metal pan from Alfa Ricambi comes with the car), there's a small rust hole in the spare tire pan that need to be patched, and it needs a new air conditioning compressor clutch bearing. The second gear synchronizer is weak. There is a small crack in the dash (dash cover comes with the car). I don't want to give the mistaken impression that this is a rust bucket - it's not. The external factory undercoating is intact except for the two rust areas mentioned, and these rust areas are classic Alfa issues caused by water leaking into the car. The leaks have been fixed.
I've enjoyed working on this car and driving it for the last five years, but I need to make space in the garage for a new motorcycle, so I am somewhat reluctantly putting this nice Quad up for sale.
This vehicle is being sold "as is, where is" with no warranty, expressed written or implied. I've done my best to provide an accurate description of the car with good photos. A $500 Paypal deposit is required within three days of the auction's close, with final payment due in the form of cash or bank cashier's check after you inspect the car in Annapolis, MD. To complete the transaction, I will sign over the clear Maryland title to the Buyer. If you decide you don't want the car after you inspect it in person, I will refund the deposit.
Please call me on my mobile phone 410 842 3293 after 6 p.m. on weekdays or any time on weekends if you have any questions, or send me an email through eBay. (Please don't call during normal working hours.)
There's still a lot of good summer driving weather left, and the car is in drive-away condition, so if you're looking for a smooth running Alfa roadster to power-steer through some twisty mountain roads with the top down and a nice exhaust sound at 4,000 RPM, don't pass up this chance to own this nice Quadrifoglio.
