This is a 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 with a 164 motor. I purchased this car in 2001 and this car has been a daily driver for a number of years and has been a real thrill to drive. The engine just hasd a complete overhaul and I would not count on driving this home to your location. I recently have put new tires on the MOMO wheels that are in great condition with all knock-offs present. Bilstein suspension all aroundand I recently installed new tie rods and ends with new high capacity wheel bearings in front. However the lower ball joints will need to be replaced at some point down the road. I modified the fuel tank due to previous (origonal) tank was rusted on the inside. The 164 engine provided great reliability for the last three years including passing emmisions with virtually no problem This motor is a stock 164 engine running on the origional GTV6 L-Jetronic engine management system. Ignition parts for this are much more inexpensive that those of the Motronic genre. As far as the condition of this engine it has about 12000 miles on the most recent overhaul that included new rings, bearings, valves, valve guides, seals, gaskets etc Very good compression with all cylinders at 155-160psi and does not blow smoke-real clean efficiency. The timing belt has been thorougly maintained and has never slipped during my ownership of the vehicle. The clutch was replaced with a Sachs single plate unit with new clutch bearings and the transaxle shifts good. There is a slight balance problem with the driveshaft and it could require suppurt bearing replacement. In all fairness it is important to keep in mind that these cars do require a proper amount of attention regularly to keep them in good running condition. Therefore, if you are looking for a low-maintenance vehicle this may not be for you! The body of the car has Ziebart and in my estimation this was done at the dealership due to the fact that this car has virtually no rust. The body had some work done to it prior to my purchasing this vehicle in 2001. It appears as though the fenders were replaced and has caused a salvage title condition. Since then it has taken a few blows from inadvertent drivers and by no means is this body perfect. However, these small dents can be repaired and the good is that this car has not suffered from rust conditions as have many that were rusting from the minute they hit America. The frame and bumper shocks are in very good condition so I dont believe that the previous damage was anything more than a fender bender. All the interior functions work with the exception of the cigar lighter. The interior is real nice-velour Recaro very comfortable with matching door panels only a small tear in the vinyl on the drivers side (easy fix). This could really be a nice car given some paint and machanical and is not for the faint of heart, indeed. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
